Early Reading and Phonics
At St Margaret's we strive to ensure that not only will all children learn to read but that they also develop a love of reading. We want reading to be a joyful experience for them which will impact positively on their whole lives.
We have adopted 'Little Wandle Letters and Sounds' phonics scheme. Phonics will be supported by a new reading scheme - Collins Big Cat. These books will enable children to practise their phonics skills at school and bring the books home showing what expert readers they are. In addition, children will bring home a book from the library to share with you and 'read for pleasure'.
